Had a shifter cable snap mid-ride last Saturday in Oak Park
Was cruising down a hill near the river path and my right shifter went totally limp. Had to coast home using only my front gear, took like 20 minutes. Turned out the cable had frayed right where it enters the housing near the derailleur. Has anyone else had luck with those coated cables lasting longer than standard ones?

Coated ones held up way longer for me.

Matches my experience - cheap stuff never lasts like the slightly pricier options.
