Best day in the shop or worst? Last month I had both in one week.

Monday I fixed a cracked carbon frame with a $20 repair kit and it held, then Wednesday a guy brought in a 70s Schwinn that snapped a spoke and I spent 4 hours chasing a true. Which kind of week keeps you going - the easy wins or the hard puzzles?

Used to firmly be on team "easy wins" all the way. You know the feeling, patching something up quick and feeling like a hero for 20 bucks. But then I had a vintage Raleigh frame come in that fought me for a full afternoon on the truing stand and something just clicked. That feeling of slowly chasing a wobble out of a 50 year old wheel, grain by grain, taught me patience I didn't know I had. Now I actually look forward to the puzzles more than the quick fixes.

Honestly, I remember reading something similar from a shop owner in Colorado about how those old Raleigh wheels almost have a personality of their own. That whole 'grain by grain' thing you mentioned (@singh.blair) totally stuck with me too.
