A customer in Boise pointed out my chain quick link was backwards after I'd done it that way for 2 years.
He said, 'The open end should face the direction of travel, not away from it,' and now I always double-check that detail before handing a bike back.

Oh man, that's a solid tip! I had a buddy point out my own chain was on backwards once, felt so dumb. That stuff sticks with you for sure.

So what's the actual risk if that open end is facing backwards? Does it just make it more likely to catch on something and pop open, or is there some other failure that can happen?
