Pulled a Model M out of a guy's shed in Fresno and the keys went from crunchy to smooth in one afternoon of cleaning | Bent Key Club - The Community Guide
crunchy to smooth in one afternoon" sounds good but I gotta push back a little. A shed in Fresno means heat and dust for years, and one afternoon of cleaning gets the top of the keys but not the stuff that actually matters. Did you pull the keycaps and get the barrels and springs, or just wipe the surface? Because those old boards can feel fine for a week and then go sticky again once the leftover grime works its way down. Not saying it's ruined, just that "smooth" after one day doesn't tell you much yet. Give it a month of real typing before you call it fixed.
