Walked into the wrong shop at 7am, spent 6 hours cutting a kid's entire soccer team

So Monday morning I show up to open my station and there's this dad already waiting with his son. He booked online but he picked my coworker's name instead of mine. I figured fine, I'll grab coffee while they get settled. But the coworker called out sick and the dad asked if I could just do it. Then he says "actually my son's whole team needs cuts before the tournament this weekend," and he pulls out his phone with like 14 appointments I never saw. I looked at my schedule and it was empty so I said yes. Six straight hours of fades, one kid cried over the clippers buzzing his ear, another one kept moving his head every two seconds. Dad tipped me $80 cash in the end but my back is still killing me today. Have any of you had a walk-in that turned into a full day? How do you even plan for that?

That dad dropping $80 on top probably saved you from a wasted day, one time I had a whole wedding party show up ten minutes before close and I just set a hard time limit per head so nobody held up the line. You gotta treat those surprise blocks like a buffet line, keep every cut tight and move, move, move or you'll be there till midnight.
