TIL that expensive clippers aren't always worth the money
I overheard a guy at the barber supply store last month saying you have to spend at least $300 on clippers to get a good cut. I've been using a $60 Wahl clipper set for 3 years straight and it still cuts clean. I just clean the blades after every 5th head and oil them weekly. My fade work comes out just as smooth as the guys using the $400 Osters. Does anyone else think the price jump is mostly about the name on the box?

My brother bought a $400 Oster set and honestly I can't tell the difference between his cuts and mine from a $60 Wahl. The secret is keeping the blades clean and oiled. I soak mine in clipper wash every month and hit them with a brush after every client. Bad maintenance kills cheap clippers fast but that's true for expensive ones too. I've seen guys trash $500 clippers in six months because they never oil them. Save your money and learn to maintain what you've got.

My buddy Marcus bought a $350 Andis Master set last year and within 4 months one of the blades started pulling hair like crazy. He never cleaned them once, just let the hair build up in the clipper wash. Meanwhile I've got a $60 Wahl from 2017 that I oil every Sunday night while watching football and it still cuts like new. He finally broke down last week and asked me to show him how to take the blades off and clean them right. Price tags only matter if you actually take care of the tool, I guess.
