Pro tip: I was holding my clippers wrong for years
A client in Austin last week asked for a super tight fade. I was struggling to get a clean line with my Wahl Seniors. He pointed at my hand and said, 'You're gripping it like a hammer.' I realized I was holding the clippers with my whole fist, not letting them pivot. Switched to a pencil grip, just thumb and two fingers. The blade glided way smoother. Anyone else have a basic habit they had to unlearn?

My buddy who cuts hair in Dallas had the same exact problem with his fades looking choppy. He was holding his clippers so tight his knuckles turned white, like he was trying to strangle the thing. Someone finally told him to relax his grip and let the tool do the work. He said it felt totally wrong at first but now his lines are so much cleaner.

Nah, I get the idea but a death grip is sometimes the only way to keep a steady line on a squirmy client.
