Just realized scissor-over-comb works way better than clippers for my older clients
Been doing the clipper-over-comb thing for years like everyone else, but last month I tried switching to shears on a guy with really thin hair on top... the blend came out way softer and he actually tipped me $5 extra. Any other barbers find clippers too harsh for certain hair types?

Man I totally get what you're saying. Clippers can be so aggressive on the scalp, especially when folks have that wispy, fragile hair on top. I had a regular last year who was almost bald on the crown and clippers just made it look worse, like a bad transplant or something. Switched to shears and a comb and suddenly his head looked fuller and more natural. It's crazy how one tool change can save a whole haircut. Plus you don't get that weird shadow line from the clipper blade.

Three times this week I noticed friends using power tools on stuff where hand tools gave way better results.
