Can we talk about how many barbers hold their clippers wrong for blending?
I watched a new guy at the shop in Portland try to blend a fade by pushing the clipper straight into the hair, and it left a clear line every time. He switched to holding it at a slight angle and letting the teeth do the work, which made the blend smooth in one pass. Do you think most barbers learn the wrong way first, or is it just a common habit to break?

It's like that with a lot of tools, you have to learn the right feel for them, not just the basic motion.

Totally agree with @the_abby about learning the feel. I read an interview with an old-school barber who said the biggest mistake is treating clippers like a paint roller. You can't just press and push. That angle is everything for blending, and it's wild how many stylists are never taught that basic move. They learn the guard lengths but not the actual wrist action. It's a simple fix that makes a huge difference in the final cut.
