A regular told me my fades felt rushed and it hit different

I had this guy come in every two weeks like clockwork, always quiet, never complained. Last month, after his cut, he just said real calm, 'You know, the fade feels a bit rough, like you were in a hurry.' I mean, I was, it was a packed Saturday and I was trying to keep the flow. But hearing that from a steady client made me stop. I realized I was rushing the blending part, especially with the 1.5 guard, just doing quick passes. Now, I make myself take three extra minutes per fade, no matter how busy. I go over the blend lines twice with the trimmer closed, and I always ask them to feel it before I dust them off. Has anyone else had a simple comment make you totally change a step in your process?

Honestly, that's a solid wake-up call. When you're grinding through a busy day, where do you feel the rush shows up the most? Is it the pressure to finish the outline first, or do you find yourself getting sloppy with the clipper-over-comb work when you're behind?

That pressure to finish the outline first is the real killer. It's easy to rush that foundation, and then everything after feels off because you're trying to fix a bad start. The sloppy clipper work is just a symptom of that first rushed step.
