A client asked me to choose between a 'business mullet' and a 'dad perm' yesterday
This guy, maybe 45, came into my shop in Springfield and said he wanted a change. He pulls out his phone and shows me two pictures. One is a very clean, short-on-top, long-in-back style he called a 'business mullet'. The other was a full, tight perm he said was a 'dad perm' from a 1980s yearbook. He told me, 'You're the pro, you pick.' I went with the business mullet, figuring it was the safer bet. I gave him a nice fade on the sides and kept the back neat but longer. He loved it, said it made him feel 'powerful but fun.' Honestly, I was just glad I didn't have to break out the perm rods. Has anyone else had a client put a wild style choice completely in your hands like that?

Honestly I would have picked the perm just for the story. But seeing how happy he was with your choice... maybe the client actually knowing what they want is better.

Story's overrated, happy clients pay the bills.
