TIL I was drowning my balcony herbs for 8 months

I had this little herb garden on my south-facing balcony in Phoenix, and everything was always wilting and yellow. I thought they were thirsty because it's so hot here, so I watered them every single day like clockwork. Then my neighbor came over to borrow a drill and saw my rosemary looking all sad and droopy. She asked if I had drainage holes in my pots. I looked at them and realized I had zero holes in any of my containers. I had been basically keeping the roots swimming in water for months. Now I drilled holes in everything and water maybe twice a week, and my basil and mint are actually growing like crazy. Has anyone else here dealt with overwatering their balcony plants without realizing it?
