Switched to fabric pots for my balcony herbs and wow what a difference
I always thought plastic nursery pots were fine for my basil and mint (you know, cheap and easy) but after 3 months of leggy growth I tried those $2 fabric grow bags from the garden center. The roots air-prune themselves so the plants don't get rootbound, plus they dry out faster so I don't overwater. Anyone else find that switching containers changed their whole balcony game?

Wait, hold on - you were using plastic nursery pots for basil and mint for 3 months? That's wild to me. Basil is one of those plants that gets rootbound so fast it's almost comical. Those fabric bags changed everything for my balcony setup too, but I can't believe you let it go that long. The air pruning thing is real, I had a mint plant that was literally circling the bottom of a plastic pot like a snake before I switched. Now my herbs actually look like they're supposed to, not like sad little sticks reaching for the sun.

yeah I feel you on that. I had the same thing with my tomatoes on the porch, switched to fabric bags and they just took off. it's wild how something that simple makes such a difference.
