PSA: Don't waste money on those balcony railing planters with the felt pockets
I spent $60 on a set of those fabric pocket planters for my balcony railing last spring and they dried out so fast I had to water them twice a day. The soil just leached through the felt and stained my railing too. Has anyone found a planter that actually holds moisture without turning into a mess?

they dried out so fast I had to water them twice a day" - that's kind of the point though? Those felt planters are basically wicking containers, they're supposed to breathe and dry out quick so roots don't rot. Yeah you gotta water them more but the tradeoff is way healthier plants that won't drown when it rains for a week straight. I had tomatoes in mine all last summer and they went crazy compared to the ones in regular plastic pots. Just gotta use good potting mix with some peat moss or coco coir mixed in to hold a bit more moisture. And your railing getting stained sounds more like whatever cheap soil you used, not the planter itself.

Wait, people are actually expecting felt planters to not let water through? That's like buying a mesh bag and complaining stuff falls out.
