My neighbor insisted I talk to my pepper plants. I thought she was nuts until it worked.

My balcony gets maybe 4 hours of direct sun, so I was struggling with leggy bell peppers last summer. An older woman named Rita who gardens on her third-floor patio kept telling me I needed to 'talk to them, not just water them.' I figured she was a little off, but one day out of desperation I started muttering things like 'come on, grow' while I was out there with my coffee. Within a week, two plants that were totally stalled pushed out new leaves and set fruit. I know correlation isn't causation, but I kept doing it and got a solid dozen peppers from 3 plants. Has anyone else tried something that sounds ridiculous but actually worked for your balcony setup?

Did you try talking in a different tone of voice? I read somewhere that plants respond to low frequency vibrations better, so I yell at my tomatoes in a bass voice and they actually seem perkier the next day.

Put on some old blues records for my houseplants, they seem to dig the low hum.
