My landlord's 2 minute balcony comment made me rethink my whole setup

He came by last Tuesday to check the railing and just goes, 'you know these pots are way too heavy for this spot, right?' I'd been hauling 20 pound planters onto the corner ledge for 3 years without a thought. Turns out he was talking about the weight limit on the brackets, not the plants themselves. I ended up moving 6 of my 9 containers to the floor and swapping in lighter fiberglass ones. Now my tomatoes actually get better sun AND my downstairs neighbor finally stopped complaining about the creaking. Has anyone else had a totally random comment from a non-gardener totally fix a problem you didn't know you had?
