My $130 self-watering planter saga, love it or hate it?
Honestly, I dropped $130 on a self-watering planter for my balcony in Portland last month. The first two weeks it kept my basil and tomatoes perfectly moist while I was away for work, total game changer. But then the reservoir got this weird algae film and the pump started making this clicking noise, so now I'm back to watering by hand and honestly regretting the spend. Has anyone else had luck with these systems, or am I better off just sticking with old school pots and a timer?

Ugh, algae is the worst! Scrub it out and ditch the pump, gravity drip trays work better anyway.
