Just found out my balcony tomatoes need way more water than I thought
I was reading a gardening guide from the University of Florida extension office, and it said container tomatoes in full sun can need up to 2 gallons of water per plant on a hot day. I was giving mine maybe a quart and wondering why they looked so sad. Has anyone else had to totally change their watering routine for pots on a sunny balcony?

Two gallons per plant sounds like a swimming pool for tomatoes. My balcony only gets a watering can and I thought that was plenty. How do you even manage to give that much without flooding the neighbors below?

But @oscarmurray, that's just the minimum for big plants in full sun.
