I visited a friend's high rise balcony garden in Chicago and felt bad for my own
Took the train up to see my old college roommate last weekend. She lives on the 14th floor with a tiny balcony maybe 4 feet wide. She has 12 tomato plants in hanging buckets and they look better than my in ground ones. The wind up there is something else though, she uses zip ties and bungees to keep everything anchored. Has anyone else tried growing veggies on a windy balcony without losing half the crop?

Plants adapt to whatever conditions we give them.

Ngl it's kind of wild how much plants can actually change themselves depending on what you do. I've seen houseplants grow totally different leaves just based on how much light they get or what kind of water you use. Some of them even start growing roots differently if you keep them in a smaller pot for too long. Makes you realize they're way more alive and responsive than most people give them credit for. Plants are basically just trying to survive and they'll do whatever they have to.
