Hot take: I quit watering my balcony herbs on a schedule and just stuck my finger in the dirt
I used to water my basil and mint every single morning on my Chicago balcony and killed 4 plants in one summer from root rot. Now I check the soil knuckle-deep first and only water when it is dry, which turned out to be about every 3 days in July, so how do you all decide when yours actually need a drink?
