Realized my starter is older than my niece and I'm not sure how to feel about that

I was feeding my sourdough starter last Tuesday and wrote the date on the jar like I always do. Then it hit me that I started this thing back in 2019, before my sister's kid was even born. My niece is 3 now and this flour blob has been alive longer than she has. I read an article from King Arthur's blog about starters that are 100+ years old and it got me weirdly emotional. Like, this thing has survived two moves, a power outage, and my complete neglect for 6 weeks during a busy stretch. Has anyone else ever realized their starter is basically a family member at this point, or am I just attached to a jar of yeast?

Think about what that starter will outlive, your niece will have it when you're gone.
