Rant: My oven's heat is all over the place and it's killing my cakes.
I learned that using an oven thermometer saved my last batch from disaster.

Ugh, my old toaster oven was like that. It would just decide to go nuclear and burn one side of my garlic bread to a crisp. I had a Sunbeam model that was famous for it. Ended up just throwing the whole thing out.
