My sourdough starter went from lifeless sludge to bubbly magic in 4 days
I had this jar of starter sitting in my fridge for almost three months doing nothing. It was gray and sad and smelled like old socks. I almost threw it out last Tuesday but decided to try feeding it a strict routine instead. I used a kitchen scale to measure exactly 100 grams of flour and 100 grams of water every morning at 7am. By day three I saw tiny bubbles on the surface and it doubled in size after a feed. Now it smells like ripe fruit and yogurt instead of nasty feet. Has anyone else brought a neglected starter back to life this fast?

The whole sourdough thing is like a perfect little lesson in how consistency beats everything else. You see the same pattern with plants, dogs, even people at work. A little bit of care at the same time every day turns something that looks totally dead into something alive and useful. Most things just need a steady routine more than they need some fancy trick or expensive product. Your starter probably just needed to know someone was paying attention to it again on a regular schedule. It's a good reminder that small, boring actions day after day add up to real results.
