My sourdough starter exploded in the car on the way to my mom's house

I had this jar of sourdough starter I was bringing to my mom's place about 40 minutes away. I put it in a bag on the passenger seat and forgot about it. When I got there the whole bag was covered in sticky brown goo and my car smelled like vinegar for 3 days. Has anyone else had a starter go wild from the heat inside a car?

Oh, have you ever had a jar of homemade jam explode in your trunk in July? I was driving home from the farmer's market and I forgot this jar of strawberry jam back there for like a week. When I finally opened the trunk it looked like a murder scene, all red and sticky. The smell was sweet and sour at the same time, and it took forever to get it out of the carpet. I had to roll down all my windows every time I drove anywhere for a month.
