My sister laughed at my bread and told me it looked like a sad potato.

Last Tuesday I pulled my first sourdough loaf out of the oven and was so proud. It was flat and lopsided but it smelled good you know? My sister walked in, pointed at it, and said 'what is that, a sad potato?' She was joking but man it stung. I told her to taste it first before judging and she actually did and said it was delicious. Has anyone else had a family member roast your bake before even trying it?

Oh so your sister pulled the classic 'insult first, taste later' move? That's a rite of passage for any home baker honestly. My mom once told my first focaccia looked like a deflated mattress, then ate half of it in one sitting without saying another word. I think secretly she was mad I made something better than her store-bought bread.

Used to think people just had weird families with the whole insult then eat thing. Your mom eating half the focaccia silently is too real though. Changed my whole view on it honestly.
