My pie crust always cracked until I tried using ice cold vodka instead of water

I was making a double batch of crust for a Thanksgiving pie in Portland last year and after three fails I swapped half the water for vodka from the freezer and it rolled out perfectly smooth, has anyone else tried this trick with liquids other than water?
