My friend laughed at my failed macarons and I still think about it
She said 'these look like sad little cookies' at my kitchen counter last Saturday, and it bugged me because I spent 3 hours on them. Has anyone else had a comment from a friend just stick with you like that?

Is your friend usually supportive in other ways, or is this part of a pattern with her? Because honestly, a comment like that from a friend would bug me too, but maybe not for the same reason. It sounds like she was trying to be funny and didn't realize how much time you put into those macarons. I get why it stuck with you though, it's kind of a cheap shot when you're already feeling frustrated. But unless she's always putting you down, I'd let this one slide and maybe just not show her your baking experiments anymore.

Right, wren_jackson hit the nail on the head about showing her your baking experiments. That's exactly what I'd do too. Taking it a step further, you could even turn that specific comment into a running inside joke with a different friend who appreciates the effort. Like, purposely set aside one of your "sad little cookies" for yourself and make a joke about it while you're enjoying a perfect batch later. It takes the power away from her comment and gives you control back over the memory. Plus, some people just don't get the hours of work that go into something like macarons, and that's on them, not on you.
