Hide your rising dough from helpful toddlers
Do not leave bread to proof on the counter. My niece poked holes in every single roll before they baked. They came out flat and tough.

Yeah and if they don't poke it, they'll try to "fix" the shape. Found a whole loaf completely smushed flat once because someone decided it needed to be a pancake.

Watch people do this with all kinds of stuff, not just bread. Like when they rearrange items on a shelf to be 'neat' but just make a bigger mess. Saw a guy once try to fix a stack of magazines and he knocked the whole thing over. It's like some folks just have to mess with things that are fine as they are.

Oh come on, you gotta give the kids some credit! A little poking and squishing is just part of the fun, and flat rolls can still taste good if you toast them up. Besides, if you're leaving dough unattended where a toddler can reach it, maybe the problem is your setup, not the kid.
