Burned a batch of cookies so bad the smoke alarm went off and my neighbor came over to check on me
I was trying that new browned butter chocolate chip recipe from a blog I found. Got distracted on the phone with a client about an offer falling through and forgot I had them in the oven. Like 15 minutes over. Smoke was billowing out the kitchen window. The guy next door actually knocked and asked if everything was okay. I felt so dumb standing there with a tray of black hockey pucks. Has anyone else had a baking fail turn into an awkward neighbor moment?

Welp, at least your neighbor didn't call the fire department. Could've been worse. I once set off the alarm at my old apartment with frozen pizzas, my whole building had to evacuate. Your black hockey pucks are actually a pretty solid excuse to just buy a sleeve of Tollhouse and call it a day next time.
