Boxed brownies are better than from scratch and I'll die on that hill

Ngl, I tried making brownies from scratch for a potluck last Saturday using a recipe from Sally's Baking Addiction. They turned out dry and crappy compared to the boxed Ghirardelli mix I normally use. Honestly, the box ones come out fudgy every time in 35 minutes flat. Anyone else think scratch is overrated for certain things?

My cousin's a pastry chef and even she uses box mix for brownies at home because the cocoa powder in the box has a special processing that makes them taste richer than what you can get from regular grocery store cocoa.

Boxed mixes have come a long way, honestly it's like they perfected the science of brownies so regular people don't screw them up. That's the pattern I see all the time in my life - people swear from scratch is better but half the time it's just more work for the same or worse result. Cake mixes, pizza dough, even salad dressing sometimes the store version is just more reliable when you're busy. The trick is picking which battles are worth fighting from scratch. Once you find a box mix that works for you, why mess with it?
