Traded my stand mixer for a hand crank, no regrets

Been baking bread for 15 years in Philly. My KitchenAid died back in March, right before a big bake order. Instead of dropping $400 on a new one, I grabbed a 25 dollar hand crank mixer from a flea market. It takes about 20 extra minutes per loaf, but the dough feels better, more alive. Now I only use the electric one for cakes. Has anyone else gone backward on equipment and stuck with it?

My mechanic says the same thing about old trucks. Slower fix, stronger ride.
