That week last summer when my sourdough starter died on day 3 of a heatwave
Left it on the counter during a 95 degree stretch in Phoenix and came back to a pinkish liquid layer on top, tossed the whole jar and had to drive 20 miles to borrow some from a neighbor just to get back on schedule for Saturday market.

Wait wouldn't a pink layer just mean you had some wild yeast doing its thing? Pretty sure that's how you get funky flavor profiles.

Wait, you actually think wild yeast could turn a whole layer pink? That sounds more like some kind of mold or bacteria gone crazy than anything I'd want close to my beer.
