My chocolate chip cookies spread into one giant sheet last Tuesday
I was baking a batch for my kid's school thing and I swear I followed my usual recipe. The butter was definitely softened, not melted, but when I pulled them out of the oven they were just one flat, greasy mess. My oven in the new apartment runs about 25 degrees hotter than the dial says, which I didn't account for. Has anyone else had a cookie disaster after moving to a new kitchen?

That oven temp difference is a total cookie killer, you gotta get an oven thermometer.

Yeah the oven thermometer is a good start... but honestly, even those can be off by a bit. The real killer is not letting your oven preheat long enough, like a full 20 minutes after it beeps. I've found just moving the tray to a different rack makes a bigger difference than a few degrees.
