Just realized my cheap oven thermometer was costing me batches

I kept having issues with my sourdough crusts getting too dark before the inside was done. I finally bought a proper analog oven thermometer for about $25 and hung it from the rack. Turns out my oven runs a solid 25 degrees hotter than the digital display says. I've been baking everything too hot for months. Anyone else find a simple tool that fixed a persistent baking problem?

No kidding... it's wild how off those dials can be. I bet @black.patricia is having the same lightbulb moment. My old oven was the opposite, running cool, so my cookies would just spread into sad, greasy puddles. Getting a real thermometer was a game changer... suddenly my cakes stopped sinking in the middle. It feels like you've been playing a guessing game the whole time.
