Hit 500 loaves sold this week and I'm still shook
I've been baking sourdough out of my home kitchen for about 8 months now, mostly just selling to neighbors and a few local coffee shops. This week I checked my order log and realized I've sold exactly 500 loaves since I started. I never thought I'd hit that many, especially since I work a full time day job too. Has anyone else been surprised by a random milestone like this in their baking side hustle?

500 loaves is a nice number, sure, but it's not like you're running a bakery empire yet. Pretty much anyone with a starter and an oven can hit that in 8 months if they're consistent. Selling to neighbors and coffee shops isn't exactly scaling the business world either. 500 sounds more like a slow Tuesday for a real pro operation. But hey, if it makes you feel good, keep going.

Starting small with a local CSA box drop off was what finally got me past the 500 mark. Focusing on one reliable wholesale account really helped build momentum without needing a full commercial kitchen. Consistency and finding that one steady outlet can turn a hobby into something more solid.
