A guy at my farmers market booth told me my sourdough was "too sour for a Tuesday" and I still think about it
I sell loaves every Saturday morning at the market in Lawrence, and a few weeks back this older fellow picked up my country loaf, squeezed it, and put it back down like it had wronged him. He said, "This is a Saturday bread, not a Tuesday bread," which honestly made no sense to me since I bake the same recipe all week. I asked him what he meant, and he said his wife only wants sour bread on weekends because weekdays need "gentler" toast. I stood there with 14 loaves left and no idea how to respond, so I just nodded and gave him a plain white loaf instead. Now every time I pull a batch out of the oven I hear that line in my head. Has anyone else gotten feedback that was baffling but somehow stuck with you for weeks?
