Vent: My broody hen finally gave up after I moved her to a dog crate.

She was hogging the nesting box for weeks and nothing I tried worked. Sticking her in a spare crate for a couple days broke the cycle fast. Has moving a stubborn broody ever worked for you guys?

Wait, two days in a crate fixes it for good? That seems like a lucky break. My aunt's hen went right back to brooding after a WEEK in a separate pen. She was just more angry about it. Chickens get a single idea in their heads and sometimes nothing shakes it. I wouldn't bank on the crate being some magic cure for the next stubborn bird.

Two days? Just two days in the dog crate and she gave it up? That's honestly wild to me. My last broody girl would sit on golf balls in the heat for what felt like forever. I had to do the whole cold bath thing, twice, and she still went right back to it. The fact that a simple move worked that fast is kind of blowing my mind.
