Took me 4 months to figure out why my hens stopped laying in the same nesting box

I have a small coop in Tacoma with 6 hens, and they all used to pile into one box like it was a group decision. Then around March they just stopped using it entirely and started laying in this weird corner under the roost bar. I tried everything, fake eggs, fresh straw, moving the box a foot to the left, nothing worked for weeks. Finally my neighbor came over and pointed out that the box had a small shadow cast on it from the new shed I built in January. Turns out the light change messed with their routine and they wanted the brighter spot. Moved the box to the opposite wall and they were back to normal within 3 days. Has anyone else had a lighting or shadow issue that took forever to crack?

Wait, chickens are that picky about light and shadows? That's wild. I mean, good on your neighbor for spotting it, I would've been pulling my hair out for way longer.
