Spent $85 on a heated chicken waterer and it paid for itself in one cold snap

Honestly, I was sick of chipping ice every morning at 6am before work, so I grabbed that heated base from Tractor Supply and after a week of single digit temps in Ohio, my girls have had liquid water the entire time and I haven't cracked a single frozen bowl, has anyone else had luck with the metal vs plastic heated bases?
