My rooster Duke decided to fight his own reflection in the dog's water bowl last Tuesday morning

He was fine for about 20 seconds then slipped and dunked his whole head, I had to chase him around the coop with a towel while he looked like a wet angry mobster. Has anyone else's bird ever tried to throw down with an inanimate object for no reason?

Poor Duke, that sounds like such a rough morning for both of you. My hen Gertrude once tried to peck at a red cup I left in the yard and got so mad when it didn't fight back she just stood there puffing up at it for ten minutes. Birds really have no sense of when to pick their battles lol.

Peeking at that poor cup is probably the most action it's seen in years. But come on @barbara967, that's not really a battle Gertrude was picking - she just got confused by the bright color. Is it really worth getting worked up over a chicken having a moment of confusion? I mean, half the time my birds chase their own shadows and act offended when the sun moves. It's not a big deal - she just had a bad morning and needed someone to blame.
