My old brooder lamp finally gave out after 10 years
Last Tuesday night I went out to check on my 2 week old chicks and the brooder lamp was totally dead. It was one of those old red heat lamps I've had since I started keeping chickens back in 2014. I scrambled to find an old desk lamp I had in the garage and used a 100 watt bulb just to get them through the night. Has anyone else had an older heat lamp suddenly fail like that or am I just unlucky?

That old red heat lamp lasted 10 years" is actually insane for modern anything. Seems like nothing is built to last that long anymore, from phone chargers to kitchen appliances. We're lucky when stuff gets past a couple years now.
