Actually, that nightly check is a huge risk people ignore. What if you get sick or have to work late? Manual doors mean one missed night could wipe out your whole flock. My cousin lost six birds that way because her kid had a fever and she forgot. Tech fails sometimes, but human memory fails way more often.
