Took me 3 hours to find a safe water source on the John Muir Trail last summer

I spent nearly half a day just trying to locate a decent creek that wasn't all dried up near Evolution Valley. Anyone else waste way too long scrambling for water on a popular route?

Man that sounds rough. I swear this water thing is like a lesson we keep learning over and over in life. You spend all this time planning the big stuff like food and gear but the simple stuff like where the water actually is can mess you up. It reminds me of how people obsess over the right coffee maker or fancy app for their morning routine but they don't realize their local tap water tastes like metal and ruins everything. Or how you can plan a perfect road trip with maps and playlists but forget to check if the gas station restrooms even have running water. The little details always sneak up on you when you least expect it.

Yeah read something about water caches being unreliable out there too.
