That $60 water filter I skipped almost ruined a Sierra trip
Passed on a proper filter at the REI in Reno to save cash, used iodine drops instead, and the taste was so bad I barely drank for two days near Yosemite. Ended up paying $80 at a ranger station for a squeeze filter that saved the rest of the week. Anyone else cheap out on gear and regret it mid-route?
