Just figured out why my pack felt like 45 lbs on the Eagle Rock loop
Did the Eagle Rock loop in Arkansas last month and my shoulders were wrecked by mile 6 both days. On the second morning I dumped everything out on a picnic table and weighed it piece by piece with a fish scale, and my "lightweight" setup came to 44 lbs. The killer was 6 liters of water plus a 4 lb camp chair I kept telling myself I needed. I left the chair in the truck and dropped to 3 liters between refills, and the last 8 miles felt like a totally different trail. Carried 31 lbs after that and finished with legs left over. What's the one thing you all keep packing that you know deep down you don't need?
