A fellow hiker told me I was carrying too much water and she was right
Last summer on the Eagle Creek Trail in Oregon, I had a 4-liter bladder plus two extra bottles. Another backpacker stopped me and said I was hauling way too much weight. She pointed out I could refill at streams every 2 to 3 miles, so I cut down to just a 2-liter bladder and a Sawyer filter. Dropped over 4 pounds off my pack immediately. My knees and back thanked me by the end of that 12-mile day. Has anyone else gotten a simple tip like that from a stranger on the trail?

Just swapped my 3-liter for a 1-liter and a filter-best change I ever made.

The lighter setup makes a huge weight difference on longer hikes.
