TIL my old scope was a dinosaur compared to the new one

Back in 2018 at my shop in Tucson I used to trace pin breaks with a beat up analog scope that weighed like 40 pounds. Now I got this new digital one that fits in a backpack and catches glitches I missed for years. Has anyone else had a moment where a new tool made you feel like you were working blind before?

Wait, you're telling me there are people who actually PREFER those old analog beasts? I can't wrap my head around that! I spent years fighting with a scope that needed a warm up period longer than my morning coffee, and you're telling me they had smoother traces for guitar amps? That's wild. I mean I get it for audio stuff, but man, the sheer frustration of trying to catch a sporadic glitch on an analog screen was like hunting ghosts with a blindfold on. My new digital one catches everything in seconds and I can actually see what's happening without the trace swimming all over the place.

Oh man, I gotta jump in here and say those old analog scopes weren't totally useless. They actually had a smoother trace for certain audio work, like tuning guitar amps or catching subtle ripple on power supplies. Digital ones are way better for digital signals, but analog had its own charm for pure analog stuff.
