Static wicks finally made sense after a night shift in Tulsa
I spent 3 years swapping out static wicks without really understanding why some planes need them more than others. Last week, a King Air came in with weird VHF noise and the old wicks were measuring 50 ohms instead of near zero on the tester. Replaced all 8 and the noise disappeared instantly, so has anyone else seen a direct correlation between wick resistance and radio chatter on smaller turboprops?
