Spent $400 on a fancy crimp tool and it almost grounded a Gulfstream
I got tired of replacing cheap crimpers every six months so I bought a high end DMC tool last spring. First job I used it on was a wire bundle in a GIV-SP and the crimps looked perfect but the pins kept slipping in the connector. Spent three hours troubleshooting before I realized the tool was set for the wrong wire gauge despite the dial saying it was right. Cost me a whole day of labor and a pissed off pilot who missed his slot. I called DMC support and they told me the calibration was off from the factory. Sent it back for a recalibration and it works fine now but that initial burn still stings. Has anyone else had a brand new high end tool screw up a job out of the box?

Buddy bought a top end crimper and it stripped the insulation on every wire first try.

My friend's fancy ratchet crimper mangled all 12 wires on his truck harness.
