Spent 4 hours tracking a ground fault that was just a dirty connector

Haven't we all been there though? I gotta say I actually don't mind those kind of finds. Sure it's frustrating at first but a dirty connector is way better than a shorted winding or a bad board that's gonna cost real money to fix. I've burned way more time on stuff that actually requires parts I gotta order. Plus once you clean it up and it works you get that little win without spending a dime. I'll take a simple fix over a complex one any day of the week.
